Rio Tinto staff dig in at Salmon Bay!
On the last Friday of March, we hosted a team of Corporate Volunteers to complete a Beach Clean and Sea Spurge Removal activity at Salmon Bay.
30 volunteers joined us to remove rubbish and debris from the beach and remove invasive Sea Spurge plants. Showcasing their dedication and diligence, the team from Rio dug up a buried plastic cray pot and metres of old rope. The team even found some coal, that environmental officer Will Selwood told us, would have come off the passing ships.
A fun team building activity was on the agenda after lunch, with participants engaging in a Scavenger Hunt, taking them all around The Settlement searching out environmental and heritage landmarks that make Rottnest Island so unique.
