HBF staff giving back!

HBF staff feeling the benefits of community engagement and volunteering!

The partnership agreement between HBF and Rottnest Foundation facilitated HBF staff to participate in four corporate engagement activity days on Wadjemup/Rottnest Island. 158 HBF staff, supervised by the Rottnest Island Authority Environment team and accompanied by Rottnest Foundation, removed 470 tree guards at Bickley Battery, planted 1341 seedlings in the woodlands restoration area and removed 32 bags of sea spurge from Nancy Cove.

Benefits of staff engagement include:

•       Hands on

•       Team building

•       Direct impact

•       Educational

•       Fantastic setting

•       Enjoyable and rewarding

HBF has also provided significant funding to support building capacity at the Wadjemup /Rottnest Island Nursery. Upgrades to the existing water reticulation system that services up to 30,000 plants annually will improve water efficiency, increase water storage and increase water recycling. The upgraded water reticulation system will also improve remote oversite of the nursery and enable the system to be remotely accessed when required.
