Quokka Birthday Weekend Celebrations
Springtime on the island means warmer weather, calmer seas and lots of quokka joeys! To celebrate, the RIA hosted the Quokka Birthday Weekend on September 14 and 15 and the Rottnest Foundation joined in the fun under the glorious springtime sky.
Our stand was located right next to the Djilba stage where we were treated to the engaging and insightful program of children’s entertainment, including dancing, yoga, ranger talks and lots and lots of bubbles.
We were assisted by a fun group of member volunteers to talk to visitors about who we are and what we do at the Foundation and to raise funds by selling our wide range of products, including:
We had an amazing time, raising awareness of the Rottnest Foundation, and raised more than $2,000 for our conservation projects.
But the funds didn’t stop there – on the Sunday, the Rottnest Foundation were presented with a cheque from the Margaret River Chocolate Company for $5,000! The MRCC donates a portion of their sales of Chokka the Quokka products to the Rottnest Foundation to fund ongoing conservation and monitoring of quokkas on the island. For more than 5 years the MRCC have been a dedicated partner of ours and in that time have donated $45,000! We look forward to continuing our valued partnership into 2025.
Wishing the quokka joey’s a very big Happy Birthday!
