The book launch of “Remembering Rottnest” by Pat Barblett AM
On Monday, 29 April, we marked the official book launch of Remembering Rottnest by Pat Barblett AM.
Launched by Hamish Beck, Chairman of the Rottnest Island Authority, "Remembering Rottnest" takes us on a journey, showcasing Pat's close personal relationship with the island. In it, she recalls her extensive involvement with the management of the island through the RIA Board and her "proudest achievements" - the creation of seminal organisations such as the Rottnest Foundation, Forum Advocating Cultural and Eco-Tourism (FACET) and the Rottnest Voluntary Guides Association.
Pat gives fascinating glimpses into behind-the-scenes events on Rottnest Island, events which have helped to shape the island which we know and love today.
"This book is written for my friends and family... It is not a historical thesis; it is my story of my love for a wonderful place."
Pat Barblett is a leader in the field of conservation and park management of WA’s unique environment. Pat founded the Rottnest Foundation in 1985 and was the first woman appointed to the Rottnest Island Authority Board.
