Rottnest Foundation Member Volunteering 2024

We kicked off our volunteering activities this year with a planting day on Saturday, 6 July.  Our volunteers showed their dedication as they spent a glorious (slightly windy) day completing some infill planting at the Wadjemup Lighthouse.

The area was initially planted in August 2023 and the job of our dedicated July volunteers was to plant fresh seedlings, close to the original ones and then re-stake and secure the new seedlings to protect against hungry little quokkas.  It was hard work, but very satisfying for our group of enthusiastic member volunteers.

Our August planters were not so lucky, with the day being cancelled due to some uncooperative weather!

Our third, and final volunteering event for 2024 is scheduled for 16 November.  We anticipate some delightful late spring weather and will take full advantage, by participating in a beach clean-up.  Our volunteers will have the opportunity to remove sea spurge, an invasive coastal species that displaces native flora.

If you are interested in volunteering for the beach clean-up, please contact info@rottnestfoundation.org.au.
