On Monday evening (2nd September) Rove McManus announced The Project’s Marsupial of the Year competition.
The Rottnest Foundation is excited to have been chosen as the charity recipient for our vulnerable quokka.
The Competition
21 incredible Australian marsupials have been selected for viewer consideration.
Viewers cast their vote for the one they think deserves the title of "Marsupial of the Year 2024."
On September 16, Rove will announce the Top 10 marsupials and begin fundraising for 10 conservation groups via GoFundMe.
On September 30, the marsupial that raises the most money will be crowned Marsupial of the Year!
If our quokka can make it through to the top 10 we will have the opportunity of raising much needed funds for our Quokka Conservation Projects.
The Rottnest Foundation support ongoing conservation projects that protect and preserve the habitat for Quokkas and ongoing quokka monitoring programs.
The quokka is Western Australia’s lovable, always smiling and famously Instagrammable marsupial however they are a vulnerable species.
